FAQs
Are there any side effects?
Neurofeedback and biofeedback are non-invasive and generally well-tolerated. Most people experience no adverse effects. Occasionally, some may feel temporarily tired or alert after a session. We monitor your responses closely and adjust your program as needed.
Will I still need medication?
Neurofeedback is not a substitute for medication. Your prescribing physician should always make any changes to your medication. If you're noticing changes during training, I can coordinate with your care team to support your overall plan.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s brain and symptoms are different. After your initial evaluation, which includes a detailed health history and EEG review, I’ll recommend a personalized program. Most people benefit from a consistent series of sessions over time.
What happens during a Neurofeedback session?
In a typical neurofeedback session, you’ll sit comfortably while small sensors on your scalp track your brainwave activity. A computer translates this activity into real-time visual and sound feedback, helping you learn how to shift your brain patterns. With support from a trained clinician, you’ll practice staying in a state that supports your goals—whether that’s better focus, calmer moods, or improved sleep. Sessions last 30 to 45 minutes and include guided tasks tailored to your needs.
Does insurance cover Biofeedback/Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a fee-for-service program and not covered by insurance. However, we’re happy to provide a superbill you can submit for possible reimbursement. Many clients view this as a worthwhile investment in their long-term health, offering lasting improvements in focus, sleep, mood, and daily functioning without relying solely on medication.
